one piece fun piece

Right now it is a lovely 5 degrees in Northfield, MN. On my way to get iced coffe this morning (no it is not cold enough to stop living without 5 things I cant live without-- that is a casual reference to a recent interview I had with a nearly old friend) my ears and the tip of my nose flirted with the color grey. When I sat down and completed my finger exercises to make sure I hadn't lost all feeling in my extremities, I decided that the only thing left to do was compile a set of images of girls in a fun piece. Cheers to day dreaming.

barrels of bouquets

Over break, I decided to go into a collaging hysteria and finally put my stacks of old issues of Vogue and Lula Magazine to good use. The outcome: piles of poses seeped in sass, floral faces and magenta lips. Although my mother might disagree,  I think it was an excellent use of my six weeks.  Here are a few examples.

Hello! Above is a picture of me crouching on the floor, styling a metal rod, in the process of making a new website. That's right-- Parachutesaway is getting a makeover. No more faux birds hot glued to a piece of plastic. My crafts have evolved and thus, so shall my site of viewing. Here are some pictures from a recent shoot of my jewelry collection from this past Fall. Stay tuned! xx

Lulu Frost: behind the scenes

Lisa Salzer, the face behind NY based Lulu Frost, is one of the few current jewelry designers who consistently produces new innovative, exciting and timeless pieces season after season. Her work incorporates a delicate vintage stylistic element with the big chunky costume jewelry aesthetic that makes me swoon. So, surprisingly enough, when the ladies behind Honestly...WTF featured a Lulu Frost studio visit on a collection inspired by Marie Antoinette, I flipped. Take a look below at the Lulu Frost chain gang, vintage gems and plaza parties.
